AOD-9604 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone (hGH), encompassing amino acids 176-191 with a tyrosine substitution at the N-terminus to enhance stability. Developed as an anti-obesity agent, AOD-9604 was designed to isolate the lipolytic properties of growth hormone from its growth-promoting and diabetogenic effects.

AOD-9604 triggers lipolysis by enhancing the sensitivity of lipolytic receptors in adipose tissue, particularly the beta-3 adrenergic receptors (β3-AR).
